The producer Svyatoslav Podgaevsky, the actress Varvara Volodina, the writer Serafima Orlova and the producer Ivan Kapitonov presented the film "Jane not Sane" taking part in the Russian Premieres Competition of the 45th Moscow International Film Festival.
The second directorial effort by the producer Ivan Kapitonov, who worked on the successful Russian horror films "The Queen of Spades: The Dark Rite", "Mermaid: The Lake of the Dead", "Baba Yaga. Terror of the Dark Forest," and the TV shows "The Pischeblok" and "The Pansion." Together with his colleague Svyatoslav Podgaevskiy, this time they decided to leave the horror and shoot a bright teenage film based on the eponymic book by Serafima Orlova. The main character, the girl Zhenya nicknamed Zhest, or, literally, Tough Girl, is just falling out with everyone around, from parents and friends to her boyfriend.
"Serafima Orlova studied in my class and sent me an unpublished book. I liked her humor and intonation, I realized it was an unconventional piece about human relationships, about what happens when a couple has just broken up. Of course, I used to have such experience like many other people. And I even cried a few times in the filming area", confessed Ivan Kapitonov.
According to Svyatoslav Podgaevsky, "Jane not Sane", indeed, became a very personal story for Kapitonov reflecting many of his inner emotions. As for the writer Serafima Orlova, she is sure this story can be developed into a whole universe, as it was difficult to squeeze all the characters of the book into a full-length film.
