"I love classic Russian literature because it always stays relevant": the director Hamidreza Ghasemi about the film The Sky Is the Same Color Everywhere

The director Hamidreza Ghasemi, the actress Nooshin Masoudian, and the producer Roman Arno introduced the Iranian film The Sky Is the Same Color Everywhere, which is part of the Main Competition of the 48th Moscow International Film Festival.

The film’s main character is torn between motherhood and femininity, between duty and her own desires. She wants to break free from her gilded cage in search of a different world.

Hamidreza Ghasemi: "My previous film was also based on a classic story. I believe that when you have a deep understanding of the classics, you can come up with something new. This applies to directors, artists, and musicians alike. I like Russian classic literature because it always stays relevant, and there is always something new you can find there to adapt through a film".

Nooshin Masudian: "Every woman has many emotional layers: there are layers of joy and sorrow, and unfulfilled desires and aspirations that never occurred due to circumstances. This versatility is in every woman, regardless of the country where she lives. It was not easy for me to play this character, who seems to be busy with basic, everyday tasks, but her soul yearns far beyond the confines of her everyday life".

Roman Arno: "It was very easy for me to agree to invest in this project because Hamidreza and I have known each other for 10 years. I’ve known about this project for a long time and read the script many years ago. Hamidreza has close ties with the culture of Russia and Iran, so I found his idea both interesting and easy to support".
