"What happens in our cinema is very interesting": members of the jury of the Russian Premiere competition about their expectations from the festival

The jury of the Russian Premiere competition of the 47th Moscow International Film Festival, comprised of the director Vladimir Grammatikov, the director and script writer Anna Matison and the producer Sergei Titinkov, shared their expectations from the participants of the festival.

Vladimir Grammatikov: "Recently we have rarely visited premieres of the films we create, we watch films more often at home or on board of planes, which deprives us not only from information but also from live human contact. So, for me here, at the festival, it is very interesting to watch these seven films participating in the Russian Premiere competition. It is no secret that the media space is facing radical changes today and for me it is interesting to watch the works of colleagues and understand in which direction we are moving. As a member of the jury, expressing personal curiosity, I would like to see what is happening in our native cinema".

Anna Matison: "It is indeed very interesting what is going on in our cinema industry, how many new names appear. While you are curious, you are alive, you do not close on yourself, which is very important. I greatly welcomed the invitation to be a member of the Russian Premiere program of Moscow International Film Festival and even took it as a compliment: for me it is highly valuable that I will be able to watch new works by my colleagues. Usually, I was on that opposite side and I was very much anxious, but now I feel okay and anticipate the pleasure of meeting new names. For example, last year Stacy Tolstoy participated in the Russian Premiere program and this year her new film, Family Happiness, is part of the Main Competition of Moscow Festival, this is incredible progress and a symbol of recognition".

Sergey Titinkov: "I sincerely thank the leadership of the festival for the honor and pleasure to participate in this legendary event. As a spectator, I just want to watch good films. Despite my experience in the industry, I always try not to subdue a naive, pure spectator in myself, an inner child who waits for a miracle from watching a new film. So, I want to see interesting talented works of people with whom we might have new projects. Of course, hunting talents is under way".
