"This is a message for elderly people who lost a spouse": the director Kim Jin-yu about the film Journey There

The Korean director Kim Jin-yu introduced the film Journey There, which is part of the Main Competition of the 48th Moscow International Film Festival.

The film tells the story of how, following her husband’s sudden death, Chun hee is left completely alone. She faces her own illness and, realizing that her days are numbered, puts her life in order. She helps a talented pianist complete his training. After Chun hee’s passing, the young man performs a symphony dedicated to this wonderful woman.

Kim Jin-yu: "My parents are deaf, so the topic of this film is very important to me. I also have friends with disabilities, and when I meet with them, I sometimes hear them say they want to leave this world. I thought about them a lot while making the film. Also, during the preparation to make the film, I spoke with elderly people who had lost a spouse and asked them how they lived after this loss and what they thought about death. This film is also a message to them".
